As many of you know already, I have a slight love affair with San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge. I take photos of it from every angle I can get and, even after living here for 20 years, I am still in awe that I get to call this place home. Heck, I get to look at the tippy top of her towers from my backyard. So, it would make total sense that the Presidio Yacht Club in Sausalito is one of my favorite venues. It has, hands down, the best view of the bridge and such cool, coastal charm. When Charles and Scott said they were getting married at the Presidio Yacht Club, it was a "heck yeah" from me!
When I am designing weddings, I really try to lean into the venue and its surroundings. It doesn't feel right to make a specific design fit just because I want it to. I take inspiration from the landscape, the views, the weather, and so much more. The Presidio Yacht Club is truly the perfect fit for this coastal California gal's heart. We developed a design that really embodied the coastal elements-- driftwood, oyster shells, blues and greens, and soft textures.
We couldn't have pulled off such an abundant coastal oasis without our go-to floral friend, Chelsea, with Rae+Rose Floral Co. A native of Half Moon Bay, she is the queen of native California florals and grasses and creates such magical installations and tablescapes. She even incorporated some Sweet Peas that the couple cultivated specifically for their wedding.
At cocktail hour, guests sipped on champagne and enjoyed the shucked to order oysters from Hog Island Oyster Co. all with the Golden Gate and blue waters as the backdrop. For dinner, guests made their way inside the Boathouse, which oozes with old Air Force base charm. Each table was detailed with driftwood and shells that my son and I collected from nearby beaches, delicate, romantic florals, and gold rimmed oyster shells for each guest. Before heading upstairs for a killer dance party, the grooms danced together and with their moms amidst the lights of the Golden Gate. It was truly picturesque! Enjoy some of our favorite photos of the day and check out a bit more in our feature in Marin Magazine.
